**The horses featured in this slide presentation are horses that have passed through our doors. Many of them have been successfully rehabilitated and are now living in new homes. Unfortunately, through severe human neglect, others lost their will to live . . . their spirit to thrive . . . and the fight to survive. They were humanely euthanized to spare them from further pain and suffering.**

HORSE RESCUE

Sadly, each year, thousands of horses are starved, beaten and severely abused. Many of these horses find themselves being transported to auction houses where their fate, through human error and neglect, will most likely be the slaughterhouse.

Several others find their way into slaughterhouses also through human error . . . . although never seeing abuse or neglect, these horses may have been a little girls best friend, a trusting mount at a summer camp, racehorses, show horses and even therapeutic riding horses . . . . no horse is safe from slaughter.

The owners of these horses may have good intentions by giving them away to those promising good homes, but with many of them, their fate is now sealed. There are many dishonest people in the world . . . those looking to make a "quick buck" prey on those trying to do the right thing.

That is where we come in . . . we offer to find new homes for responsible owners wanting to do the right thing . . . we offer sanctuary for horses that are in need of retirement . . . we teach proper horse care to those willing to learn . . . we travel to auctions and perform rescues for horses in great need . . . they are retrained, rehabilitated and placed into new homes where they again find love, respect and dignity.

Viewing the above slide show can be very disturbing, but sometimes truth hurts. We do what we can for them, but sometimes we can not work miracles. These horses lose their spirit . . . they lose their will to survive. Once a beloved horse, they now see only abuse, neglect and hunger.
